Vicissitudes of Life

peter

This is an expression used by lawyers and Courts to describe the normal risks that every person runs in simply living their life. When someone is awarded damages for the future, those damages have to be discounted to take account of the normal risks that everyone runs in living their lives. It is generally accepted that a discount of around 15% has to be made on damages paid for future losses to take account of the fact that the injured person is receiving damages now that relate to losses going into the future.
